Kshama Gupta
Background
Dr. Kshama Gupta is a seasoned cancer biologist specializing in cancer research, neuro-oncology, and regenerative medicine. She earned her Ph.D. in Molecular Medicine with a major in Cell Biology from the Department of Hematology Oncology at Hannover Medical School (MHH), Germany, in 2010.
Research Interests
Dr. Gupta’s research explores the tumor microenvironment, novel combinatorial cancer therapies, and the role of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) in cancer progression and tissue regeneration. Recently, she has investigated cancer-related neurotoxicities caused by radiation-induced tissue and vascular damage, employing MSCs and secretome-based therapies to mitigate these effects.
Given the impact of cancer treatments, such as radiation therapy, on the brain and spinal cord—particularly demyelination, which mirrors the progressive pathology of multiple sclerosis (MS)—Dr. Gupta is now expanding her research to MS.
Her work will focus on identifying biological cues and defined conditions to enhance MSCs as a therapeutic-grade product, ultimately hoping to advance regenerative neurology and oncology.
